About this deal

Inspired by the 18th century art of drying malting barley over peat fires, Connemara possesses a distinct peaty flavour and aroma, instilling a delicate smokiness and smooth, sweet taste. Connemara and other brands associated with Cooley like The Tyrconnell have been owned by Beam Suntory since 2012. We also offer bespoke wine packages to businesses in a variety of different sectors – ideal for functions, boardrooms, or corporate gifts. We treat all personalised bottles individually, taking our time and experience to set out your message to create the most impactful bottle decoration possible.

When it was first launched in 1999, it was the first smoky Irish whiskey to be produced for generations. At its natural strength, the character of the peat and malt is more pronounced, creating an intense explosion of flavor.

Silky smooth with a honey sweet start, followed by malt and fruit flavours giving way to full bodied peat.I can only concur with other reviews , dreadful whisky I fail to see how anybody with any discernible pallet could like this whisky. The rugged Atlantic coastline and majestic mountains blend with the rain-soaked peated bog lands to create a landscape of unique natural beauty. As the oldest licensed distillery of its kind in Ireland, the Kilbeggan Distilling Company has seen its share of trials and triumphs.

There’s the familiar sweet and freshness I’ve found in many good Irish malts, coupled with the peat, brine and smoke that are surprisingly complimentary. The bottle is a lovely Irish touch with the presentation box reminisant of the West of Ireland and the Connemara landscape. I bought this in Dublin airport duty free and on inspection of the bottle i realise that I had stayed previously on holiday only half a mile from the distillery on the Cooley Peninsula near Dundalk (a long way from Connemara! Still, this Connemara expression out of Kilbeggan Distillery, which is owned by the Cooley Distillery, bears the imprint of John Teeling before he sold Cooley to Beam Suntory in 2014.
