Now, it’s time to outline a few important factors and what they are by which all monitors should be judged by.

Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. The first monitor I got was a Acer XF240QSbiipr - TN. I know, I know, life taught me already, that I should do my research before build literally anything so I read much (for a few days actually) about panels, hz, response rate, yadda yadda. I heard about worse colors, viewing angles and all that, but I haven't had any TNs in years (8-9?) personally, and the ones I had in my previous workplace weren't actually bad for normal text usage. I wanted to test out the function of the newest ones as well. It was ok, the hz jump was nice. Colors were ok after some fiddling in the settings - a bit I could have gotten used to it, I'm sure. But I needed it for vertical use - which on a TN was indeed abyssmal. Nevertheless, if I wanted a pure gaming monitor or even for just daily normal horizontal use, it would have been a nice buy.Information about the minimum amount of time, in which the pixels change from one color to another. Very often the manufacturer provides the response time for transition from grey-to-grey (G2G). I'm mostly working/reading and casually gaming on it, don't really have time or craving for newest games so it was enough, but recent work really spurred me to get a bigger screen for eyes and watching pleasure. I wanted to get something solid, for when maybe I finally build a solid PC, but yeah... The static contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce simultaneously, for example, within one and the same frame/scene. To begin with, I have been using IPS monitors for nine years. About Iiyama, I always thought it was a brand of expensive luxury monitors for professional use (artists, photographers, designers, etc.). In my opinion, this was the case before – they did not have monitors cheaper than 250 US dollars. But, apparently, they have recently re-branded and decided to enter the wide market. So in choosing this monitor, I intuitively counted on a product with quality standards higher than competitive brands in the same price range. The calculation was justified by 100%. A couple of upward-firing speakers are visible on each side of the central vent. They're nothing to write home about, pushing out tinny sound, so anyone desiring more than rudimentary audio needs to look elsewhere.

The stand provides up to 130mm of height adjustment, which is enough to offer portrait mode at the highest setting. 18° of upward tilt and 3° downwards is standard and it stays fixed in position firmly. OD”, TraceFree” (Asus monitors) or “Overdrive” etc. as it may also be called is a pixels ability to respond to changing from one colour to another, the faster the transition response, the less ghosting or pixel overshoot a monitor will be susceptible to with fast moving objects on screen. Depending on the monitor and refresh rate an overdrive setting that is too weak or too strong might result in ghosting or overshoot, not all monitors have a good Overdrive implementation though causing severe ghosting and blurring, so be mindful of that. The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. Additionally, the monitor offers a wide horizontal viewing angle of 178°, enabling comfortable viewing from different positions. The ratio between the horizontal and the vertical side of the display. Some of the standard and widely used aspect ratios are 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 and 16:10. Approximate width of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the width is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio. Information of the number of pixels in a unit of length. With the decrease of the display size and the increase of its resolution, the pixel density increases. Novice users need to be aware that iiyama ships this model with the FreeSync Premium support turned off by default, which is strange. The only interruption on the front is a circular blue LED that can also be switched off via the OSD. Speaking of inputs, the panel supports FreeSync Premium DisplayPort between 48-165Hz and HDMI between 48-144Hz. Nvidia's G-Sync also works - the monitor is not on the official list, mind - evidenced by smooth performance in the Pendulum demo.

Approximate height of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the height is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio.

The surface is matt.I am not a fan.I will never forget some of my IPS Dell with a glossy screen.Constant wow effect when viewing, even when you yourself are reflected as in a mirror because of the sun.It was very similar to the screen of good smartphones.Color saturation was off scale. Then I discovered that not everything matte is cool. Approximate diagonal size of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the diagonal is calculated from the width and height of the screen. I have never met any acceptable built-in monitor speakers, so I did not expect anything good from these. As expected – the bottom. My answer is that I have never heard a worse sound from any source in my entire life.Let me tell you right away – forget that this monitor has speakers.Don’t count on them the same way you don’t count on the scissors inside an inexpensive Swiss knife.
