Split into Brimstone Horrors(Double, Blue Horror):replace the Blue Horror with a Brimstone Horror, but only if Blue Horror is wounded. Empowering Lightning (Quad, Dragon Ogor Shaggoth): Heal all Dragon Ogors in an area around the Dragon Ogor Shaggoth. If two of the dice show the same value, they can be used to activate a Double ability. If three show the same value, they can be used for a Triple ability, and so on. Hunter and Quarry: keywords can be attached to fighters using certain cards. Particular key for those warbands who generally try to upgrade and empower a single key fighter. Some of the most powerful upgrades in Beastgrave require you to have a specific keyword to use.

In a narrative campaign these fighters do not roll for injuries or renown. They cannot take artefacts of power but can take heroic traits (rules have been adapted for Warcry 2.0 in White Dwarf 482). So, when this article refers to an ability being a Double, a Triple or a Quad, it refers to this system. Both the Ungors, Bestigors and Great Bray-Shaman are also part of the Start Collecting!: Beasts of Chaos box, so if you’re planning on branching out into the tabletop wargame as well, that’s a great way to get your Warcry roster filled. They have access to two new abilities (on top of the traditional Gloomspite ones): Snarlfang’s Jaws gives them a chance to do up to 6 damage to an enemy engaged (on a 6 depending on the ability’s value), while Ferocious Ponce guarantees that damage at the end of a move phase, but also depends on the ability’s value meaning it seems a bit overpriced as a Quad. Beastgrave: the Novel

The great thing about Warhammer Underworlds warbands is that you can try out different painting techniques and styles you wouldn’t normally use or that you’ve wanted to experiment with. For my personal challenge, I set out to paint all the Beastgrave and Dreadfane warbands while also trying out new techniques, painting guides, and colours. For example, I wanted to use some Contrast paints and improve my blending and airbrushing.
