Nice surprise: i've totally forgotten the LP version a full track on A4 instead of the interlude found on strreaming services. Several beat skips and a dissonant midi string dominate the tracks second half, transitioning into the next songs sweeter melodic overtones. Carmichael first appears on the album's fourth track "Exactly What You Run from You End Up Chasing". The mid section also leaves room for a VERY flowerboy-esque string section for the avid listener, which is a very nice touch.

Though some might be disappointed that he's becoming more of a singer than a rapper, this is the kind of project that should encourage more artists to disavow labels and relish in taking risks".Tyler produced the beat for "Gone, Gone" in 2013 while on tour for his second studio album Wolf, choosing to scrap the song from both Cherry Bomb and Flower Boy since he didn't feel it fit either of those albums. Yes, the mastering could be better (bass are great, medium not very apparent) but hey, it's still an hip-hop record so it checks where it needs to.

The song opens with a pharrelism, and a lofi drum sample and vocal passage, contrasted strongly against the clear cut and elegantly produced synths and trills. Every record is shipped in original factory-applied shrink wrap and has never been touched by human hands. On songs like EARFQUAKE he really shows how much sadness he is feeling while there are songs like WHATS GOOD and NEW MAGIC WAND where he is almost trying to act like he does not care. This is truly the point in the listening experience where Igor sounds nothing but hopeless, especially after the beat switch, where the mood becomes unambiguously low and depressed, like falling into the worlds least euphoric opiate high.Scott Sedillo (whose scribe is “SS”) at Bernie Grundman Mastering cut lacquers for both pressings on the same system used by Grundman and Chris Bellman. Whether it's an Audio-Technica AT-LP60, a Fluance RT85 or a Technics SL-1200, the sound is distorted and has noticeable wow and flutter that is not supposed to be there (I know some songs are supposed to have it, however my copy has wow and flutter on songs where it should not be present). American comedian Jerrod Carmichael serves as the album's narrator as it progresses, speaking short lines to make sense of Tyler's and the title character Igor's state of mind. The lyrics act more as another instrument throughout most of this record, and not a thing to be studied. Interlude/Boyfriend: I have this album on cd, so when i hear this song I bop like crazy, but I haven't listened enough times to dissect.

The record eventually comes to the explosive middle part "New Magic Wand", which clearly shows all of Igor's feelings, even without listening to the lyrics. An instant classic, for its raw emotional feel, sacrificing clean production for almost demo quality vocals and drums, but crucially supported by some beautiful synths, which do not come off as lofi at all.Work on the album began in 2017, with Tyler initially writing the song " Earfquake" for Canadian singer Justin Bieber and Barbadian singer Rihanna, who both turned down the song.

The latter is by far the most insightful; Tyler and Rick are off the grid at a vacation home in the Italian countryside, talking in-depth about the musical composition of “IGOR’S THEME,” “EARFQUAKE,” “I THINK,” “RUNNING OUT OF TIME,” and “A BOY IS A GUN. I’m not necessarily saying the CD sounds better, just that the vinyl isn’t up to the high expectations. At first this change in tone, and pace, is jarring and you are waiting for it to kick off, but as the album progresses you get into it and dig this new Tyler".The most ethereal and glitzy song on the whole album, with a bittersweet melody and melancholy piano sample intercut with vocal chops sampled from Bound. On April 26, 2019, a supplemental financial report from Sony revealed that a new album from Tyler was expected by the end of June. The synths change around so many times throughout this track, that it's honestly not worth mentioning how amazing they are. The singing on this track is superb, and represents the beginning of the concept/story of the album, showing his introduction to the lover.
