Description

I had my hopes up that Cornwell has resurrected her prior ability to tell a good story based on the reviews I read that Kay Scarpetta was back. She spares 78% on the first day depicting the incident and 28% on the second day investigating the incident. This October, the indomitable Scarpetta once again reappears in Livid, the series twenty-sixth entry.

Well-plotted, terrifying, and containing gory detailed autopsies by Scarpetta, this thriller is not for the faint of heart. I would like to thank both Netgalley and Little Brown Book Group UK for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. Her interests range from the morgue to artificial intelligence and include visits to Interpol, the Pentagon, the U. What's interesting is that by the end readers (especially those of us who started with the first book in the series) realize all the main characters are now related by either blood or marriage. Livid is the 26th installment, and it's quite strong compared to many in the middle that sagged a bit.

Scarpetta was the first woman chief medical examiner in Virginia and Cornwell sold the book whilst she was working at the office of the chief medical examiner in Richmond, Virginia. Patricia Cornwell is one of the world’s major international best-selling authors, translated into thirty-six languages across more than fifty countries. Brooks places the epicenter of the Bigfoot war in a high-tech hideaway populated by the kind of people you might find in a Jurassic Park franchise: the schmo who doesn’t know how to do much of anything but tries anyway, the well-intentioned bleeding heart, the know-it-all intellectual who turns out to know the wrong things, the immigrant with a tough backstory and an instinct for survival.Cornwell spends the next 107 pages (30% of the book) cataloging every raindrop, turn of Marino's Ford Raptor, building they pass, roads they travel to the murder scene, etc before they cross the threshold of the house where the murder took place. The judge, Annie Chilton, is Scarpetta's long-time friend; but this time out, her rulings are falling outside the norm.
